Consolidating its work in two Abingdon, Va., plants – and with the assistance of financial incentives – Steel Fab is moving into a new location in Lebanon, Va.
Company officials said this morning that the move will help Steel Fab retain 240 jobs, and add about 50 more. All current employees have been offered roles in the new plant.
The incentives for the move include assistance from the Virginia Governor’s Office, the Virginia Tobacco Commission and the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority. The incentives include a $100,000 grant from the Virginia Governor’s Opportunity Fund and $160,000 from the Tobacco Commission.
Steel Fab is investing $1.5 million into the project over the next three years, as it moves into the old Lear building in the Cumberland Plateau Regional Industrial Park on Regional Parkway in Lebanon. The company will start moving in the next two months and expects to be operating fully in the Lebanon plant by early next year.
