Faye Bays recently donated village pieces she has made throughout the years to the Town of Lebanon. The pieces are modeled after businesses in the town during the 1960’s. Her late husband Harold helped her tremendously with these as he knew all about the businesses in town. She began making these pieces well over 30 years ago, after marrying Harold and moving to Lebanon. After being in storage for some time, Faye decided it would be nice for the town to use them. This year is the first year the village can be seen inside of the Russell County Governmental Center Main Entrance. Lebanon Vice Mayor DeAnna Jackson helped see the project through, along with Morgan Gilbert; Instructor of Art at Southwest Virginia Community College and co-owner of Morgan’s in Abingdon with her husband Stephen. Morgan was also instrumental in seeing the special 2019 Bicentennial Celebration Mural project through in downtown Lebanon near the intersection of Main Street and North Church Avenue. Please, drop by the Russell County Government Center this season to enjoy the village.
The Town of Lebanon would like to thank Mrs. Bays for her donation, as well as honor her late husband, Harold for this wonderful Christmas display. The Town would also like to thank Vice Mayor Jackson, and Mrs. Gilbert for all of their work bringing this display project to life.
